What are your earrings made from?
Our earrings are made from commercially pure titanium, chosen because it’s gentle on skin and nickel-free. It’s an excellent choice for sensitive ears, particularly for people who find other jewellery causes irritation.
Why wear titanium earrings?
Titanium is nickel-free and biocompatible, meaning it’s naturally suited to the human body and gentle on skin. This makes it a great choice for sensitive ears, particularly for those who experience irritation from other metals.
What makes Twelve Mile Designs earrings different?
We don’t compromise on what goes into our earrings. We use high-quality, commercially pure titanium and carefully select our materials to meet our standards for purity and quality. Every pair is selected with sensitive ears in mind, so you can feel confident knowing exactly what’s against your skin.
Are the coloured earrings safe for sensitive skin?
Yes. Our coloured titanium earrings are anodised, not painted, dyed or plated.
Anodising is an electrochemical process that uses an electrical current to build a thin, controlled oxide layer on the surface of the titanium. This changes how light reflects off the metal, creating its colour — without adding a coating of paint or dye.
The result is colour created from the titanium itself, while keeping the skin-friendly properties of the metal.
Will these earrings definitely be okay for my ears?
We can’t guarantee that every person will react the same way, but our earrings are specifically chosen for their suitability for sensitive ears. They’re made from commercially pure titanium, are nickel-free and designed to minimise the irritation commonly caused by other jewellery metals.
If you’ve struggled with earrings in the past, titanium is one of the materials we recommend trying.
How do I tighten my earring backs?
Our titanium butterfly backs can gradually loosen with regular wear. If your back feels loose, gently squeeze the two sides together to tighten the grip on the post. It should only take a small adjustment to restore a secure, comfortable fit.

All prices are in Australian dollars (AUD).
Where do you ship from?
Brisbane, Australia.
Do you ship internationally?
Not currently. We only ship within Australia.
How will my order be shipped?
Via Australia Post Parcel Post with tracking. Alternatively, you can select Express Post during checkout. You’ll get a tracking number as soon as we’ve sent it.
How long will my order take to arrive?
Please allow up to 3 business days for us to dispatch your order. From dispatch, estimated delivery is 3 to 7 days Australia-wide.
My order hasn’t arrived / tracking hasn’t updated – what do I do?
First, check your tracking number on the Australia Post website. If it’s been longer than the estimated delivery window with no update, email us at info@twelvemiledesigns.com with your order number and we’ll chase it up.
Returns, Guarantee & Warranty
What’s your return policy?
Any earrings can be returned within 30 days of delivery, for any reason, under our 30-Day Sensitive Ears Guarantee.
How do I start a return?

Do you offer exchanges?
Not directly. Return your items under the guarantee for a refund, then place a new order for what you would like instead.
What if my earrings are faulty?
That’s covered by our 12-Month Warranty, separately from the 30-Day Guarantee.
Caring for your earrings
How do I clean my earrings?
Wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals and perfumes as these can affect the anodised colour finish over time.
Any general tips for new piercings?
Follow your piercer’s aftercare instructions first. They know your specific piercing. As a general rule, keep new piercings clean and avoid touching them with unwashed hands. If you notice ongoing redness, swelling, or discomfort, check in with your piercer or a doctor rather than relying on general advice online.
